Colossians 1:13-14
He has rescued us from the power of darkness and transferred us into the kingdom of his beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
Into the light
From night into day, from condemnation into grace, from bondage into freedom, from death into life: we have been delivered from the realm where sin and death reign and brought home to the kingdom of light. We are the animals rescued from the shelter where only death awaits. We are the prisoners set free from being degraded by our jailors. We are the children delivered from fearful and violent homes. We are the castaways found.
It’s hard to see at first. Like coming from a dark room into the bright sunlight of day, the light hurts our eyes. But this is the realm of warmth. This is the realm where living things grow. This is the realm where adults and children play. This is the realm where the blanket is spread for a picnic. This is the realm where all people are brought to feast and all creation made new.
