About this site

This blog consists of a series of daily verses and brief reflections around our Lenten theme.  In 2017 our theme is “…Love Justice…Do Kindness…Walk Humbly…” (Micah 6:8) with a special focus on The Lord’s Prayer under the title “The Justice and Peace of the Lord’s Prayer”.

Our weekly foci will be

  • Our Father”
  • “Your name be holy”
  • “Your will be done”
  • “As we forgive”
  • “Lead us not into temptation”

On Sundays during Lent our worship will be followed by a soup luncheon and conversation time on themes related to our observance of the Lenten season.  The topics for our “Sunday Soup” this year are:

  • Listening Well
  • Speaking Truly
  • Seeing Clearly
  • Acting Kindly
  • Walking Together

In a time as divided as ours it is important that the Christians seek to be agents of reconciliation and witnesses to the biblical vision of a human community governed by the Spirit of God who “loved us and gave himself up for us“.

This blog is the work of Pastor David Bonde at Los Altos Lutheran Church developing ideas provided by members of the congregation.  People are free to use the material if they credit it to David K. Bonde, Los Altos Lutheran Church, 2017.

I invite you to visit my daily (more or less) blog that comments on the texts for the upcoming Sunday: https://watchingforthemorning.wordpress.com/ and my occasional reflections at https://jacoblimping.wordpress.com/

A link to our congregational website is on the main menu page of this blog.  If you are in the area, we invite you to join us in our worship and ministry.
